Amethst has been established to sell and implement the Siemens Soarian Medsuite hospital information system together with the Tiani Spirit patient electronic health register systems to South African Provincial hospitals and clinics. The company is based in Johannesburg.

Health Systems Technologies
HST is a leading provider of Hospital Information Systems (HIS) solutions for South African healthcare organisations. In 1999 HST was awarded a provincial contract to implement HIS in 40 public hospitals and clinics in the Western Cape. HST has successfully rolled out its HIS at three academic hospitals (Groote Schuur, Red Cross and Tygerberg) and five specialist hospitals (Victoria, Valkenberg, Stellenbosch, Mowbray Maternity and False Bay).
Solutions offered by HST are internationally approved and exploit the global synergies, research and development and major technological advances of Siemens and other leading suppliers. HST has been successful in assisting hospitals to generate more revenue from efficient collection and to manage their financial systems and information.
The Clinicom roll-out in PGWC was a success with 30 hospitals going live. Paarl "go-live is planned for February 2012.
Rollout of the JAC Pharmacy Information System to non-Academic hospitals in PGWC resumed in February 2011 after release of the new version which was customised to meet PGWC requirements. Since then, the system has been rolled out to 6 hospitals.
Another 7 implementations are planned before April 2012, including the planned Clinicom implementation at Paarl. This brings to a total, 14 sites live on JAC including the Academics and ARV Depot and an envisaged 21 live sites before April 2012.
LabTrak Laboratory Information System (LIS) at NHLS, Phase 1 consisted of 57 laboratories in KZN which was completed in March 2011.
Subsequently HST was awarded Phase 2 of the implementation of the centralised LIS for 182 laboratories in the rest of South Africa which project commenced in July 2011.
